I agree with player, just put more resources. It will still means luck - no res or bad land and you'd be screwed, but is an option for future with less players. Maybe map bigger like 1.2 would be better, having close enemies on cton is always a bad thing. I like WT the way it is - will work even better at ctons. No one will go war time early before knowing that there is a enemy near, and this will means that players that are building will be even easier kills in future then they already are. Plus, imagine you defending from 7 players in a future? Wow

Make all resources predetermined location for each civ. Each Civ gets everything. Then it is up to players ability to use them wisely. Make them disappear randomly...lol, ya like global warming melts ice caps and oil disappears when the coastline floods and your citys lose population. Or the Godzilla/Volcano/ Nuke Meltdown effect. (Random Catastrophies) (Godzilla is from SIMCITY)

in civ4 they have a balanced starting spot. anyways to make that in civ3? or just use premade maps with equal resources/land if it is that much of an issue. imo its kinda part of the fun not always having fair land. makes you a better play and tells you who is ok and who is great.

I'm suprised player is even commenting on this idea in a favorable manner. In a cton even the over defending wussie will feel the pressure
