That's certainly true, but one would hope that if we're attempting to have a cohesive environment for play, they would at least seek to use the same, confusion-free scenario file.

I believe Red p has several modded scenarios featuring the mp tourney and as he keeps saying he gets a lot of players playing and some good feedback from it

I believe Red p has several modded scenarios featuring the mp tourney and as he keeps saying he gets a lot of players playing and some good feedback from it 'I'm not playing those in mptournament format after the fussa bout it, I just modded them to work on tiny with 60-80% land... While it is allways possible to make those mptouranment too, I have not done so. But yes they have been well recieved.

The new ladder MPTournament biq was used in a tourney last night. In my game the host loaded the file and I got a message something to the affect of "host scenario version differs, use host rules". The other two players in the game saw the same message. The host said that he had downloaded the file from proboards minutes ago. I had also downloaded the file just before the game.
What's going on here?

That's a fail-safe mechanism designed by Firaxis; ANY time you alter the MPTournament.biq file, you'll get that message, even if both people have the same alterations.

::Shrug:: No problem, just don't try to pass it off as the real scenario file. At this point I honestly don't envision any changes to the file at the end of the beta period - I've heard...well.. only one... significantly negative view so far.

That's a fail-safe mechanism designed by Firaxis; ANY time you alter the MPTournament.biq file, you'll get that message, even if both people have the same alterations. I don't believe that this is right. I've played the new MPTournament with people who DID NOT get the message. If you both have the correctly modded file, you will not get the message. I also played a game the other night where someone else hosted and I got the message. I know FOR A FACT that my file is the correct one, so I informed the host that his wasn't correct. I heard the same thing - "I just downloaded it 2 minutes ago from the Proboards". We decided to load it up anyway and it was NOT the correct one (I picked Rome and did not have industrious workers). So what's going on here? How can someone download the file directly from this thread but not have it work? Here's what I think is going on: The file posted here is named MPTournament.biq. However, you've already got the standard MPTournament.biq in your scenarios folder and it is named EXACTLY the same. When you try to download a file to your computer that has the exact same name as another file already in that location, the newly downloaded file will appear with a "1" at the end (no two files can have exactly the same name in the same location on your PC). As we all know, for the MPTournament to work properly, you need to load it up using the "Tournament" option rather than the "Scenario" option. Your file must also be named MPTournament.biq - exactly like that. Here's what you need to do: Before downloading this file here, you need to go into your Conquests/Scenarios folder thru Windows Explorer and change the name of the file that is already there. Call it "MPTournament - Standard.biq" or "MPTournament1.biq" or some variation of this. Then, come here and download the Ladder approved file right into your Conquests/Scenarios folder. Now it will work correctly and you won't get the "Host has different file" message.

Just a reminder to those CCC players that haven't played this scenario before. Dear Friends: -...Three-Man Chariots 25 shields... This never materialized. The cost of the Three-man Chariot remain at 30 shields (15 in AP). I reckon this might be because of the upgradepath: (horseman->3men-chariot->knight), where the cost of the upgrade of an popped horseman would be -9 gold ((12-15)*3), which is propably treated like a bug by game code and hence overrided and the chariot cost substituted with the cost of the horseman.
