Qataton and Fanciful,
Having heard everyone’s opinion but yours, it is time to rule on your cton infractions. The spirit of cton play entails that there is no alliance in the game. Each player looks out for what is best for him or her.
There are times when two neighbors may not go at war and find it better to attack a common foe. However it is clearly a trend in you two. A while back when I was ranked number 2, I had the opportunity to play you both in a few ctons. In each case, you chose to ignore each other and concentrate on attacking and successfully killing me. At the time I chose to ignore this behavior as I care little for rank. To be number one on the ladder these days does not make one a great player.
More important than rank is the integrity one displays on the battle field. We are a proud league of friends who do not appreciate some taking unfair advantage of certain games. I have received and compiled saves form four different matches. In each instance, you two remained at peace and concentrate on attacking others. In one game I even saw one of your units go to the other’s land simply to get a golden age trigger. This is unacceptable play and does not reflect the values we hold dear as a community.
I emailed both of you to talk about this kind of play and you did not bother to respond to my emails. Fanci, I even have game spy logs where you apologize for having played in this manner.
After having consulted my administrative peers and viewed all the evidence, I have decided to suspend you Fanciful for 21 days. During this time, you may NOT play ladder matches. Any attempt to do so will result in a ban from the community.
As for you Qataton, we have recently had to deal with your evening where you decided to report A LOT of matches and made a lot of work for us. When approached in lobby about fair play you decided to start screaming at everyone involved in the game and was furthermore shouting obscenities left and right. You have been suspended for 28 days. Another outbreak from you will see you without a Civ mp home.
After the two suspensions are served you may play ladder matches again. However upon your return your ranks will be set at the bottom of the league and you will be banned from playing each other in cton matches for an additional 2 months. You may not play with or against each other until March 28th, 2008.
Any unusual behavior or disruptive comments to other members in the lobby or the rulings will see you lose your ladder privileges. This league is in fact a private league and a privilege. We administrators work hard to offer a product to our members.
We must protect our honest members from such game manipulations. Because of this duty, we reserve the right to decide as a council who gets to play and who does not. Others have had chances in the past so I suggest you both accept your sentence with maturity and come back to us after having carefully weighed your desire to remain in this league. To do otherwise would be a losing battle as we will go out of our way to ensure our cton matches remain fair, entertaining and offer no one a dishonest advantage.
Shame on you gentlemen, there should be no pride in winning in such a manner.
Ps-A copy of this message has been posted on the forum. Should your play remain honest and no more complaints are filed against you, I may move it to archives in a few months.
