Hi, I graduated in December 2003 from Western Michigan University with a degree in applied methematics. I am currently working on my masters degree in applied mathematics at western again and hold a teaching assistantship here also. I teach freshman and sophmores precalculus and trigonometry.

In the US, a bachelor's degree is typically 4 years. A master's would be another year or two on top of that. A PhD would be another two years (I think) on top of that. Something like that anyway. From what i know during my stay @ UCF it's 4+2+4 But a phD might also be around 3 years; dependent on university and project. I might start one by fall

In Canada Universities and Colleges are two different things. Universities offer degree programs, 4+ years, Colleges offer certificate programs typically 3 years or less and also may offer trades course for trades certified by other professional bodies.
I'm Certified Engineering Technologist(Electronics)(CET) from the Ontario Assiciation of Certified Engineering Techicians and Technologists(OACETT), as well as my military trade qualifications which don't really translate well to civilian standards.
Hey Methodman, exactly what can you do with a Math degree other than teach math to others? :-P
