Ironman Rule

This is an advisory poll to see how people feel about the following rule in the Ironman.

Let's say someone leaves the game without being killed. Should their Civilization disappear (to the pleasure of their neighbors) or should they be replaced by an AI?

I concur with Avo, or at the very least put the "floodplain start in ancient next to aztecs" curse on them

i posted this in another location but i have played several ironmans and have seen both things happen..what seems fair is to put an AI in place for the main reason it completely throws the game out of balance...if all of a sudden there is more land for colonizing giving superior production to a civ and or now makes a civ that once was resource depleted now available changes the outcome of a game

now i also no AI can suck but we play most games at regent level and i would like to hope everyone here can handle a regent AI

in a 90 turn game a person gone really doesnt chancge the outcome much it can be overcame, but in an epic style game ther is huge implications

I think it depends on the level of diffuclulty the game is set on. U don't want a regent comuter they jsut build outpostes

Well, but rather have a regent computer slowing u down than a huge space...

Also, if u conquering some one and he give up, u won't get his cities...

but you get all his land, with worked tiles to boot. At the very least a player shoudl pillage himself all to hell before quitting.

This can change a game too, since there can be a wonder in his capt like Great Lib or Pyramids who will change whole game...

This was close but with the tournament starting tomorrow we need to make a decision.

The No's have it. If anyone departs from the Ironman their land will become vacant.

This is not my opinion, it's from the gbrazuca team.

According to them, this vacant land ruined they chances to win ironman.

With Otomans and Celts quiting early, Iroquois could put all his forces on sumeria and India, who quit as well... So, this thing ruined they chance to win, since they was saving horses for upgrade to Cavalries...

If those civs was subbed by a AI, Iroq would have to waste their time and troops to fight them, and this would change whole history of the game.

Plus, Maya didn't had his GA since his close neighbours left... ;D

Well it wasn't all that bad, celts were actually on the other side of the map with india as only neighbour, so celts leaving made india stronger, allowing them to put up a better fight - and they did fight, to the last unit, kudos for that
That being said, yes ppl leaving can unbalance the game pretty badly, I voted for ai remplacement too in this poll, maybe try it out next ironman.

As for maya not having triggered their ga yet by turn 130, well ;D

According to Galo, the plan was get GA when they hit Cavalries

well i voted for ai replacement also...and i didnt give up i just had no units to fight cavalry iroqouis ran through because i was backward in techs when i took over...i took over for india and was dead in 20 turns sum, maya, and iroq all had superior numbers and units than india....

i later found out that inda had been warring early with celts....

Well, than if Celts didnt had quit India could maybe take over their cities and get support and production good enough to beat up iroquois(or at least try).

Or maybe Celts would kill India and would end this painfull game
