"What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception".
Harsh title but you are left to wonder, why spill the beans on the political and moral waywardness of the Bush White House now as opposed to when these events were unfolding? Regardless, the news items include Hurricane Katrina, the outing of Valerie Plame, and a big mention of Iraq. McClellan goes on to scold the liberal news media for not being liberal enough. In his view, had the media done it's job, the Bush administration would never have gotten away with what the American people have let it get away with.

Bob Dole yesterday sent a scalding email to Scott McClellan, excoriating the former White House spokesman as a "miserable creature" who greedily betrayed his former patron for a fast buck.
In an extraordinary message obtained and authenticated by Politico, Dole uses his trademark biting wit to portray McClellan as a classic Washington opportunist.
"There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don’t have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues," Dole wrote in a message sent yesterday morning. "No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique."
Michael Marshall, Dole's spokesman and colleague at the Alston Bird law firm, confirms the message came from the former senator and presidential candidate. "Yes, it is authentic," Marshall wrote in an email.
"In my nearly 36 years of public service I've known of a few like you," Dole writes, recounting his years representing Kansas in the House and Senate. "No doubt you will 'clean up' as the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm. When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, 'Biting The Hand That Fed Me.' Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years"
Dole assures McClellan that he won't read the book -- "because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job"
"That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively," Dole concludes. "You’re a hot ticket now but don’t you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?"
He signs the email simply: "BOB DOLE"
PERFECTLY SAID!

Better late than never, in my book. To me this is a test of the Republican Party. Do they side with Bush in blasting McClellan for "biting the hand that fed him", for being a dirty rat ingrate, and for "selling-out"? Or do they accept that while it would have been more dignified if McClellan had said something before, that McClellan's book raises some serious questions about honesty and integrity in the White House? Does the Republican Party want to shed its image of corruption by throwing out the bad seeds, or are they going to try to present a unified front -- at the expense of the Republican Party's honest constituents? If the GOP does not get their house in order, us Dems can look forward to some easy elections.... Sort of sad to see the GOP go out like that...

I doubt few care.
I don't see what's so damning in the book; and who would believe it anyway? He and the publisher are trying to sell books.

hehe
Every outgowing president has People wrighting books for the chance to make a "Profit".
Bill Clit on had a few too. Of course he had a few Potential bookwrighters taken care of, Ron Brown, Vince Foster.
To think that one party is more "Honest then the other" in my mind, is a Far Reach. Each are full with Career Politicians that would sell their soul for the next election.
In my opinion, Was George Bush a Great President? A: No Was George Bush a better president then Al Gore or John KErry? A: 10 Times better
Would a Strong Independent win this election? A: In a landslide.

The last election most folks voted their conscience, or morality, when they voted Bush in. It's pretty clear that he deceived those people like a Magician pulling rabbits out of a hat at a 5 year-old's birthday party. The better president by ten times? Bush and his cronies are devoid of morality. They lied aboiut Iraq, they screwed up this economy, they failed on getting aid and responding to Hurricane Katrina. The list goes on and on. Crude oil was at under $30 per barrel when the Bush regime took power in 2000. Where is it now, a month away from $150 a barrell? His wife the first lady had the nerve to have a press conference scolding Myanmar's military junta for a lackluster relief effort when the cyclone hit.................pot calling the kettle black? I don't know what Gore or Kerry what have done, but they would not have f**ked things up the way Bush Jr has. It really doesn't matter which party the not a very nice person belongs to, if he did a shitty job it's everyones job to come out and call him on it...........including the dumbasses that voted his corrupt keister into office.

And let's not forget the many contributions of the Bush junta to human rights: in particular that of turning the USA into a stinking torture state that currently detains >26,000 "terror suspects" in secret prisons: www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jun/02/usa.humanrights

It disgusts me my country is doing this in my name. These extraordinary renditions are illegal, immoral, and contrary to the polical philosophy and ideals America was founded on.
We need to show Bush and his cronies the door, and relocate our moral compass.
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
"Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power."
- Ben Franklin
"The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life."
- T. Roosevelt
