Today, Bush signed a law passed by the U.S. Congress, which removes Nelson Mandela from the U.S. terrorism watch list. Until now, Mandela and members of the ANC have been barred from receiving U.S. visas without special permission.
Mandela, as well the the entire ANC, were placed on the U.S. terrorism watch list at the request of South Africa's apartheid government during the group's decades-long struggle against whites-only rule.
Mandela spent 27 years in prison for charges which included "terrorism" and sabotage.
In 1993, he was awarded the Nobel Peace prize, and was elected president of South Africa in 1994.
Are there any lessons to be learned here? Or, are we too jaded to gain any perspective from this?

That "terror" against white people is justified. This is a typical leftist stand. Rev. Wright says the same type of stuff. Like the "white" man made aids to kill da "black" man. I think the lesson is another ex sample of what happens when a government makes laws based on "race". Like "affirmative action" and "hate speech/crimes". The Nazis passed laws based on race too, just like the democrats. One of the first ones they passed when they came to power was that Jews couldn't use public pools. Governments that pass laws based on race aren't just racist, they are dangerous. That should be the lesson. |

You moron, it was George Bush who signed the bill saying that these men were freedom fighters, rather than terrorists.
Fortunately, this is pretty much a consensus opinion now in this country.
So if you don't think their "terror" was justified, take it up with your man GW.

I think they where freedom fighters. Fighting a racist government. With race based laws. It just sounds like you blame "white" people for what goes on in south africa
