I got boat killed in a cton game where I actually would have won if I just wouldn't screw up... 15 turns left and I was gaining and had GA and we were 4 players left, I had planned to attack him with about 20 immortals just about to march out, then it happens... I had forgot to road once city at the coast - 2 forest tiles unroaded - and there were only 2 spears... stupid me. If I had roaded, I would have gotten about 10 backup units in immediatly. Road, road and road... I always tell myself, but dammit I forgot that. I was so point-hungry and settled right away. I just had to post this because I am so frustrated now because that would have been my first cton win ever, and so other new players can learn from that noobie mistake I did, but let me ask... What is the best countermeasure against those boat killers?

build boats to watch your coast and then when you see some boats coming have some more ready to kill them. Even if the enemy loses 2-3 boats that's 4-6 units less to worry about on your land.
