I know some of you preferred cton the way it was played previously under old rulings which involved a certain amount of leaway in the communication etc.
Well i thought id like to outline something called NMFFA- Non Muted Free For All.
The basic idea is this , still no tradin- diplo screen is out- u give someone a ga you stay at war with em etc.
However as regards the rest- heres where it gets different- anything goes- yes anything.
As long as you dont mute anyone your free to speak your mind and to make alliances- as long as they are visible to everyone.Someones in management and misses it - well thats tough im afraid
Also STABBING is allowed- Yes , thats right - me Swede propagating a good stab.
No notice of intent- nothing, just a clean ruthless stab- totally allowed - and remember- no muting still
I know some of the sensitive amongst you wont like the sounds of this due to nature of stabs and also the level of abuse that will flow in these games but simply dont play em if you think youll get upset.
This is no way meant as a ladder standard or anything of the ilk just a fun alternative to join the myriad of other scenarios out there.
I firmly belive the online future of civ is linked hand in hand with the development of its multiplayer diplomacy limtations and possibilities- lets try something differnt I know some of you have played similar rules with me and enjoyed em- would be nice to see a few NMFFA games up now and then as an alternative to Cton etc.

Hmmm.... sounds to me just like a regular ol FFA with a couple options thrown in (no trading, no muting).

Of course, variations such as this are great to keep things "spiced up". Just be sure everyone is very clear about the rules prior to starting the game.

Also, this thread probably belongs in the "Suggestion Box" forum as this isn't really a scenario or mod, per se.

Yes Mo, id agree its quite alot like an ffa , its just that with the emphasis on Stabbing a little (personal gain is all in FFA), i think that with a good crowd of people this would throw up some fun situations, also i belive that this simple difference from regular ffa would help bring some of the newer ladder players into our community smoothly. Remember trembling as a newbie hoping that noone would find me and when they eventually did theyd end up as only person i spoke to rest of game- they either killed me or made me Tec Bitch- lol.
You gotta laugh at the prospect of a game where for example A has to sit and explain to B, C,D ,E exactly why he stabbed F with three turns to go, despite F being his game long ally and leading the game ....fill in the letters many good laughs to be had i think

i'd like to see the excact same thing just with 1 mute at a time... like when you want to backstab someone you might wanna talk to another to have support for after you backstab your ally, call it 1MANB which is "1 Mute, Alliances N' Backstabs".

Also you might add diplomacy

Id like a diplomacy editor period, as i outlined in wishlist for civ4 about 6 months back, a user friendly interface to define diplo options would rock the big one

I'd like that too but it isnt here till civ4... btw how do we know the civ team is reading it? i mean i posted on the civfanatics about that thread but they have a whole board about it!!!

I think you'd actually see LESS stabbing in a game like this. In a regular FFA, of course stabbing is legal. It can be done secretively though, and the other players may not know of an alliance. When the stab does happen, one can deny that an alliance ever existed if they want to. In your format, everyone knows about the alliance and everyone will know that you're a stabber.

it might turn out to be suspicous... i mean someone might ask either of you to be their ally and the other might say i already have an ally in a 5 player game so you cannot deny it...

felt i had to resurrect this old thread as it's a very fine idea indeed!
