Over the past few years we have had many young civ players join the ladder who are still in school.
I think it would be a good idea for the adults of this ladder to try to join together to encourage them in their school work. Incentives for making good grades. These guys are the future of not only this ladder..but our future..and who knows ...maybe help make civ 6 or 7 lol
Im all open for ideas for encouraging these young civers

I'd imagine the number 1 rule being no Civ until your homework is finished, which I'm sure you already do. Also, if you get bad grades, then you have to play a whole ironman epic against the best player around in one sitting.

Everyone go over to Leah's house with your report cards, and she will pass out free cookies of your choice. Homebaked, Fresh aroma, Tall Glass of Milk. Nothing is better then that.

She should hand out free beer for good grades and free drugs , that's what young ones care about these days

Young ones care about and prize whatever adults do.
Ponder that.

I have been a civer since civ1... I for one think civ is a rather educational game... forget ur petty homework kids, civ it up, I bet you could beat your teacher in this game, and thus probably know more than them anyways. I don't know where you all are from but I live in Florida. The schools here are ranked 48th in the country (out of 50 states). I do NOT value the quality of education they are receiving. However I grew up in NY and they are consistently ranked top 5. I was in top 10% of my class and civ'ed the whole time I did it. So my message is this, civ it up, when the teacher in History class asks about the Knights Templar, or the Mausoleum of Mausollos, shock and amaze the whole class, I can guarantee your teacher looks at you in a new light.

To add on this topic, some of our younger players could probably be more qualified then some of our politicians. Eg. Warspidey or Senator of Illinois who was RE-elected after being caught in possession and under the influence of crack cocaine.

It's about balance.....My son brought home a brilliant school report so I don't worry about him playing and sometimes staying up late to participate in a tournament. He does know though what may happen if his school work should slip

It is another to know the significance behind it. Also, you seem plenty bright which is good. But beating a teacher at civ wont get you into the good universities Bad school or not one should work hard to study for 2 reasons. One to stand out and achieve amongst your peers and Two to get good working habits.

But beating a teacher at civ wont get you into the good universities I agree , who cares if u win in civ , that doesn't make any sense , for the real life ........ or does it , Maybe i should send a letter to harvard "hey i was nr.1 for 6 months on the c3p league" , like they care , they care about GRADES, and i don't see playing civ will increase grades , so first homework then civ , ( parents plz note ) And bonez as being top 10 of ur class u should have figured this out to , or the class wasn't to smart
