I would like to suggest a new ladder rule. In any ladder game the name of your civilization should not be altered in any way shape or form. Reason this causes confusion amongst other players as to cabalities and civ traights. If players wanna be creative they can manipulate city names as long as thier civ STATUS is unaltered. I make this suggestion because i just went through a game that was scrapped because one player refused to reveal his civ and stated he didnt have to because it wasnt a rule... I have seen this many times before as well, but most players will reveal or cooperate. This should be a rule we enforce to ensure this doesnt happen again. It is only fair........

I agree.
But, this was suggested a long time ago. However, some players took the position that "deception" should be part of the game; so the rule was never adopted.

Well the game was very laggy & I don't think 10 turns had gone by either, so that plus the dispute about revealing the civ resulted in a scrap. Warbud's suggestion of not allowing any1 to alter their civ name is 1 way to do it. I think civ name changes should be allowed but the player is should be required to reveal his civ if asked & if the player lies & says "I'm Korea" when actually he/she is Maya, that player should be punished by the Administrators...

Renaming of units is illegal in future say...king to worker.
I imagine the same applies for revealing what civ you are. I'm not an admin but I'm sure I would not agree that a player can "hide" his civ's identity.
