I put Vista on my new computer, and soon found that for some reason the included new IE that is bundled with Vista won't work with GS.
I looked around and found a fairly simple way to get around this.
Open up Gamespy Arcade, just as you usually would, and try to open the C3C room. It will display that error message that has been pissing you off so much...
Move the cursoe to the left side of the screen, over the game roome icons, and pres Cntr-O
In the box that comes up, type the following:
civ3con:///?type=group&group=-1
This should open up the C3C lobby.

Interesting...does it open it with the games list as well as the lobby? And as I posted in the other thread, worse case C4F supports the C3C lobby as well, bypassing GS Arcades issues completely.

Runs the C3C lobby just like it does with XP. Except for the inconvenience, it is a perfect fix.
I think all it is doing is bypassing the IE7 incompatibility.

CanuckSoldier, Where was that post about how to access c3c through c4p... I have civ4, but never play it, although I'd rather access c3c through something other than gs.
Thanks!

read the top post.
Also the GS helpers maintain that there is an unofficial patch released by windows update which addresses the issue. However I was unable to implement their suggestion.
