I opened all the ports. Then i was able to host for a week or so, but now i can press the "host" button, and launch, but when i get to the setup screen it says all the 8 spots are Open and i cant cancel the game, i have to force quit them. Also, sometimes when i click Multiplayer, then internet, i get in the lobby, but i cant see my own text, or any games. And lastly sometimes when i click "host" it says "Players must stay in Gamespy Arcade"
Any1 have any idea what the problem is?

I really can't come up with any better suggestion than to remove Civ and then reinstall it. It sounds like something in there has been munged.
You might also try running a virus-protection scan and spyware scan to make sure you don't have some nasty stuff in your windows registry interfering with civ.
Sorry you're having problems. And obviously the "dork filter" is inactive, since Bonehead seems to be able to play and post.

Still not working, huh? :-(
Sorry. I wish I could refund your wasted time.
Maybe someone who knows what they are talking about will see this over the next few days and offer some help. We got some pretty wise guys here.
On the other hand, be sure to take any advice you get here qith a grain of salt. We're not without our share of malicious posters here from time to time. Don't do anything that sounds like it might compromise your computer.

It simply sounds like you are on a router or your anti-virus is blocking it. Civ does strange things sometimes, personally, I was hosting forever and windows auto-installed service pack 2 and I had to uninstall it to host again. I guess it had some kinda security feature that prevented comp link-ups.

Have you opened the ports for GS as well as Civ?
These are the ports needed to play and host:
UDP 6500 UDP 13139 UDP 2302 TCP 1440 TCP 28900 UDP 27900 TCP 6667 TCP 6500 TCP 29900 TCP 29901 TCP 3783 UDP 6515
Also ensure they are open in your computer firewall/security as well as your router.
If this still doesn't work then I am stumped.

is not about open... but redirect port
which router model you got? and what you have done (maybe post some screenshots).?
you tried disabling your local firewall? are you sure your isp is not filtering some ports?
