Yes, I understand that, but you really need all the players to agree to that at the beginning of the game methinks. Thanks for mentioning it though.

I haven't set it up yet. I have one epic that has been being played actively and 2 others that seem to have fallen by the wayside. I'm hoping to be able to finish at least one of those two soon. As soon as I finish up one of my epics, I'll set a new one up. You'll be the FIRST person I invite to the new one.

Great thread and tips. Im currently in my first c3c epic and even though Crude Dirk is kicking my ass at the moment I will continue to show up. And I can't wait to join another when I finish this one.

Thanks for info & good, solid points. NOW, where do we find one? Seems everything up here is STARTED by the time it's posted = ?? How about some pointers on an even more basic item... how get into a game in the first place?? Please don't tell me to just set up a thread here... tried that, 6 views & not a single reply. Talk about a "good" old boys club ! Or did i just buy to C3C too late & everyone's on to the latest rage?

to be honest milo, the problem IS that you;re not known that well
an epic is a big commitment and people dont want it wasted because A) a player doesnt turn up or quits, or B) the player is a complete newb and spoils the balance of the game.
u signed up for blulords epic then didnt turn up, which kinda proves the point
If u want more success getting in epics, i suggest u play normal ladder for a while and get a little known.

What is with this saying i didn't show up at some game start?? Where? When? What? I got no invite or ANYTHING regarding this phantom game. How is one supposed to know? If i had known, i'd have been there. Or if not possible (rarely the case), i'd have said so. As for "not being known", i was VERY active in CivII MP. Check with Ming or Raj over at Apolyton. As for my reliability; I'm 1 of the founders of what U R calling "Epics". I'm 1 of the 2 start-to-the-end players of probably the most famous (& greatest & fun-est) "dipo" game in Civ history. The 1 with 8 active civ's, over 17 players (nearly all excellent) from all around the world, played intensively for over 9 months. Big "Diplo II" was won by an cobbled together alliance that managed to build a better SPACESHIP that literally caught & passed the OTHER TWO that had already been launched. Beating them to AC by 1/4 of a turn!! Back when it was fun to build spaceships of different designs, rather CivIII's mindless, 1 size, 1 launch, & it's over = no fun, no choices, no excitement. Trust me, THIS guy will be around to see more spaceships launched to win games. And hopefully, these being ladder games, those that DO flake out or find they have "more important" commitments, will at least be man enuf to own up to & report as a loss. Someone NOTIFY me, & i'll be there. PS: as for "getting more experience"... i'v compiled a 5-50 record over in shoot'm up gallery. How many more times do i have to make the "mistake" of trying to build a few libraries & BUILD a civ instead of; turning off research after getting iron making (or at the most, const)? Then cranking in all the happiness i can afford while building a stack of whatever's, & waiting for the mindless, mildly fun stack battle(s) to begin just before the turn 90 limit runs out? Whoopie! Where's my nose hair clippers, i want to do something REALLY fun with my time. The "normal" ladder "game", NOT what the classic Civ is all about.

being known in Civ2 is frankly irrrelevant. People eithger know u or u dont. Scroll down the pic forum to the thread titled New Epic u registered your interest on post 6 of Page 2 clearly u didnt bother tio check the thread for scheduling and rules....like everyone else who took part...

Boy, Don, U really know how to make a new guy feel welcome. I'll reserve the rest of what i feel after reading your inspiring & thoughful comments for another time & place. If past Civ experience isn't relevant, what is? Playing games with U? In other contests the final, selected players were emailed or ICQ'd by the host(s). Since that is obviously not the way things are done here & i don't live on the net in this site. Sorry my "ignorance" prevented a smooth start. It'll not happen again. I'v since figured out how be alerted via email of a posting. Meanwhile, lighten up & ENJOY life & people, Don.

Just stay at it MiloMind ... make a name forself in regular ladder play ... think of it as an apprenticeship ... and in a few weeks people will welcome you to epic games.

Earlier it was mentioned about played epic games using VP scoring. Now knowing that it was written 6+ months ago. I was just wondering how well the VP scoring went with epics on a regular benchmark?

Personally, it would be tough to get me into a regular scoring epic ever again. VP scoring works great for epics, IMO.
