I would like to start a PBEM with the Rise and Rule mod.
This is the C3C version of Double your Pleasure. if you dont know what this mod is, you should probably try it before signing up as their are significant changes to the game and you will have to spend a LOT of time in the civilopedia.
I think a 4x2 format will work well - ie each player controlling 2 civs in sequence. 4 players in the game - 8 civs on a standard map.
Other settings are up for discussion. If we get a lot of demand for places, i would be happy to run a 2nd game or revert to 1 civ each tho i like the speed an extra tactical considerations of controlling 2 civs.

I will play if it is 4 x 2. If there is competition for the spot I will pass and let another player take the spot. I think this will be an awsome pbem. I am in 2 other 4 by 2's. One turn per day the goal I hope?
I have checked to be notified of replies. ty DK

ok in the games ive played (SP) i have had a lot of what i would call unplayable starts - ie very slow growth (can t get to size 3) and only able to build hardy clans? i forget the name of the settler anyway, it may not be a problem as less players on the map but i see 3 options.......... a) 1 mulligan, but u could still get really bad land - after u took a mulligan b) take what u get c) have an independant quickly reveiw the starts before we start the way i envisage c working is for me to create the game then send save of turn 1 to somone and ask them to check all starts are ok i would generate starts until we get a good one

with two civs each, I don't know that having an independent check the starts is necessary - give us the option of refusing a really bad start after we check out what we have, i don't mind running one slow civ if the other is ok. I don't really care all that much in any case, do what you want to do.

well, i know what u'r saying carol - normally, i wouldn't bother with a mulligan rule unless extreme circumstances - like a 2 square island
however, i have found the number of very bad starts in RnR excessive
random civs seems cool
is anyone botherered about benchmarks? - i would prefer 1 report after victory condition reached or by histograph
all victory conditions on except diplo and wonder i assume
shout if want specific settings....

benchmarks are a pain, if the game goes long we can report two losses to the winner? Otherwise, whoever wins at the end, or takes over the world gets the win.
I do prefer AP, does that work well in Rise and Rule? It keeps the PBEM games moving nicely.

Opinion-------> Winning the game and leading at a benchmark are two entirely different goals.
The second is not always better for attaining the first.
You have to wait forever for any reward for good play but it is my preference.
AP is good I think. Random is fine also.
I check e-mail throughout the day monday through friday but tend to be offline between 1 am and 7 am EST. Weekends are anyones guess but I still check when I can get to it.
Not sure about the restart rule. I will leave it to others to decide. I am not likely to request a restart with bad land but I suppose a 2 square island would be an exception.

ok, we will do random civs
i'll have a quick check with AP when i get home - assuming no probs i will use AP
standard 70 world ill pick all middle settings for world generation
emperor difficulty ok for all or do u prefer a bit lower (is relevant for happiness, corruption and fighting barbs)
no restarts unless your start location is genuinely unplayable (tiny island or cant get to size 2 in start city).
remember jungle is 2 food 1 shield
