Actually, communism is kinda nice, IMO. You get the communal corruption so all your cities are at least halfway productive - even those ones at the far reaches of your empire. Plus, your optimal city number is way high compared to other government types. This means that you can have lots more cities (don't remember the exact number) with the lowest possible corruption.

I'm pretty sure Communism only gets an increased OCN value if you build the Secret Police HQ to act as another Forbidden Palace.

I've finally found some use for Feudalism. I was playing gyp in a teamer and we decided to go the Science route. Anywho, we got to Feudalism very early in the game, like around turn 50-60-ish. I was on a peninsula and was expanding nicely. Unfortunately I had little or no fresh water. Since I was Reli, I decided to switch to Feud. WOW! The unit support was awesome with all of my tiny cities (obviously). I built quite a few WCs that game... hehe.

Every gouvernment has its uses, it just depends on the circumstances. So far every time I learn a few new things about Civ my preference for some gouvernment changes.
Feudalism definitely has some advantages. An important one is it's the only gouvernment you have to research. No choice, like with the others. If you have to research it, you might as well use it. Unless Monarchy or Republic are just too good at that particular time.
But I find that at that stage of the game a lot of army build up has taken place and the unit-support becomes rather expensive. Also at this stage there still should be plenty of cities with low population that will support 5 free units. On average the unit-support is similar to Despotism, without the production penalty.

Wouldnt it be time for a comprehensive look at all the governments, what situations they fit to and what are the good/bad things? Maybe Friedrich could do that? =)

Respectfully, I have moved on to a slightly more encompassing CIV project, and don't have time to write an article on C3C governments at this point. I appreciate the compliment in suggesting I could do it, though.
