The only way to get GS to work with Vista is to un-install GS, un-install Civ3, then reinstall GS before Civ3, that way it won't detect it. Then you can access the lobby by browsing the Strategy section, on the main GS page that GSA displays, for Civ3 Conquests. You can't see the games list this way, but it will let you chat which is better than nothing.

Ok I have a solution to your Arcade problems!! Dump Arcade No really! We in Civ4land never could use arcade so a Civer and programmer, Eiffel made a replacement for us and I convinced Firaxis to get Gamespy to allow our new lobby chat program access to the lobbies. Civ4fans is this program, and the latest Alpha has the C3C lobby added. It is a work in progress so feel free to post any problems, but I've been using it for ove a month now in this form and it gets the job done. It doesn't display the games list as we can't get Gamespy to let us have access to that data. But it does everything else. www.civ4fans.com/Civ4Fans2007alpha.zipJust extract the files into a new folder on your HD and create a shortcut on your desktop. You have to register and email and create a username and pw, but nothing any harder than Arcade was. Enjoy CS

Im enjoying Vista now... i never tried Linux but i´ve heard from friends that they prefer it comparing with windows, guess i must try it one day.. Vista actually improve speed computer, much faster then before with Xp but maybe its my all new computer with this dual core processor.. Anyway, Vista is the future and all this Gs programs or any ancient ones are part of the past. I´m sure the new ones will come to vista ultimate or any other new operative systems... Civ4 is a drop on evolution, Vista ain´t.

I'm so smart I found this online..... This won't much mean to most people who read this, but if you're stuck and looking for a solution, then you'll be glad you found it. What am I talking about? Well, if you found this, you're probably having the same problem I've just had, installing Civilization 3 with the Conquests update, the latest patches, and then being unable to play it because of an error message: "Error loading font. Code 28". I've read many solutions to this problem, and the most ridiculous one, and the "official" one put forward by Atari/Infrogrammes is to delete all Lucida Sans font files from your Windows/Fonts folder! Unbelievable that this could ever be considered a "solution". The REAL solution to the Code 28 problem is this: Go to your Civ3 folder (whereever that is on your harddrive), go into the "Conquests" folder and then rename the file LSANS.FOT to -LSANS-.FOT (or indeed, anything you like, so long as it isn't LSANS.FOT!). You can now play Civizilation III, with Conquests, on ME, XP, Vista, whatever! The reason for the big is that within the LSANS.FOT file is instructions for Civilization to load the LSANS.TTF (the actual LucidaSans font file) from "C:\BreakAway\Civ3\Conquests\LSANS.TTF", and if the file isn't there, the game won't load. Of course, this isn't even the default path for the game, so why Breakaway games should include this file with their patch is beyond me. But they did. I wanted to post this on a Civ3 forum somewhere, but I couldn't find an active thread about the problem, so at least here it should be here for good. Hope it helps somebody!

Conquest works fine in vista. Unistall everthing. 1-Install civilization three 2-install conquests 3-download 1.22 patch and save to civ3 folder follow these directions thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2007/03/small-update-civilization.htmlalso uf trouble overwriting files Even running as Administrator may leave you without permissions to modify some files or folders, even ones that you have downloaded and installed. To modify (copy, delete, rename) files or folders you can take Ownership of (in your Username) and grant yourself Full Control permissions of the files or folders in question described in the following tutorial. Another way to gain access to modify files and folders includes going to the Start button, typing in Windows Explorer, right-clicking on this and selecting Run As Administrator. You should then have "elevated privileges" to do whatever you wish to files in Windows Explorer. There is also a program called Unlocker that you can use to gain access to modify files and folders (see link below).
