I guess I need to get my ass over there and see what they've done. My initial reaction was much like Bonehead's. I'm trying not to allow their arrogance get in the way of a fair evaluation of their system. Questions: Does their system allow for players to play ANY version or mod of civ, or does it have to be civ 4? If some of us were to join their group and sill play only C3C, how would our stats pool with those of the civ4 community? Is there a possibility of a multiple ladders in their system? Who would be thrown more into chaos by a mass "invasion" by C3C into "civplayers?" Y'all know me and you know know how much I love this game and this ladder, but IF they have truly come up with something better that will still support the version we prefer, I think it deserves a look. I guess we also need to carefully examine the politics and administration as well. AGREED So lets take our time with this thing...if not...then I don't know what to say. I guess, goobye civ3ladder, enjoyed it. BTW, I hope everyone who was in the storms last night and today are doing well.

We are in no rush to take on their system. I think it best to watch how they fare out for a few months. Their offer is however very kind.

Yes I have offered this system to the C3P Admins and they are wisely watching how the system works in real time. DTA has given an accurate account of how it works.
I'm sorry if my statement on the Civplayers League site came across as "arrogant", it was not meant that way at all. Perhaps I just have a wider view of the Civ MP world since I deal with the SP fansites and the developers from Firaxis and Take2 on a daily basis. And what I said is still true, remaining divided is not doing the MP community any good, you don't see Civfanatics or Apolyton breaking into new sites when a new Civ game comes along, and it was obviously a mistake for us to do so, even though we had no real choice at the time due to us both using Myleague.
This is NOT Civ4 players trying to subjugate Civ3 players, but offering you an improved and unified home, that would give you a separate forum and player statistics, as well as all the advantages of the civplayers skill based winner reports league. You would retain your admins and TD's and they would remain responsible for your administration. But in the end it is your call in concert with your leadership here.

Thanks CS and DTA! I'm sorry there's so much suspiscion and jumping to worst conclusions here. We (I anyway) appreciate that you are offering to share your new platform with us. As I understand it, it would be the same "league" but with different procedures.
Tell me, is there any way to automatically transfer our membership or historical forum posts into your Brave New World?

Unfortunately not, we will be moving the historical HoF from Cases to Civleague, but it will be static and there as a Historical reminder of the past greats of our games. We don't have access to the Myleague or Proboards databases. But the forums can be left read only for everyone to see, they just won't be able to add to them as we have new SMF based forums on CivPlayers. You can ofcourse copy and paste important data into the new forums, it's a bit time consuming but we are doing that in some cases.
And yes you can think of CivPlayers as a MP version of Apolyton or CFC, with many different Civers under one roof. There still is even a strong but small group of Civ2 players at Apolyton that are still Civ2 players and proud of that, but equally proud of being Apolytoners. That is my goal with Civplayers.
If you have ever visited CFC or Poly, they have moderators for the different sections of there forums, we can do the same and have different Admins in charge of the different games and there forums, even though the main player database will contain all player data from all players, player statistics will be listed differently, and players when they report a win will have the option to chose which game they have played.

Well if a cheating accustion came up, it would go to that game's Admin team. In the case of C3P that would be Avo and his team. They would then handle it the way they felt best. They could box a member or even ban a member. That would be their call to make.
